Best Way to Spring Clean Your Piece

Spring cleaning is not only for your floors and windows. A bong and pipe deep clean on the regular is essential! The following cleaning method from our very own, Budtender John, will get your smoking accessories sparkling. This easy approach should be used regularly so that you can truly taste the flavor profiles of your dank buds. Don’t ruin your high-quality weed with a dirty piece! And don’t try to boil in a pot! You will not only ruin the pot forever, but you risk breaking your glass piece!

Supplies to procure from your local grocery, hardware, or drug store:
• Epson salt or rock salt
• Rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl)
• Plastic wrap
• Rubber bands
• Pipe cleaners and cotton swabs
• Plastic gloves
• Disposable plastic container to soak small bong pieces

Easy steps to a shiny clean bong or pipe:
1. Gather supplies. Set up your work area near a sink. Put on gloves so your hands remain resin and stink free.
2. Rinse piece(s) with hot water to get any chunky bits out.
3. Fill a disposable container with rubbing alcohol and soak any small pieces -bong stems, bowls etc. Add your salt to the main piece. Then add alcohol.
4. Cover any holes with plastic wrap and secure with rubber bands.
5. Shake, shake, shake!
6. Dump the dirty solution down the toilet as to not clog or stink up sink.
7. You may have to repeat steps if your bong is super dirty. Use a pipe cleaner or cotton swab to detail. Rinse again with hot water. Dry or put in sun and you are ready to puff.

Founder Jim McAlpine has joined with former NFL football player Ricky Williams to create this cannabis / fitness combination. “We’ll do a cannabis performance assessment for our clients by starting with a baseline workout. In a calculated way, we’ll determine the best protocol,” said McAlpine. The smoking area is separate.

According to McAlpine, there are two specific ways to incorporate cannabis into a fitness regimen. Either post-workout for pain and muscle recovery or he said many use cannabis for focus. “Whether it’s the gym, skiing, jogging or swimming, it allows my mind to laser focus,” he says. (Forbes)

Second Annual Doobie Rolling Contest -Get Durangalactic!

Just in time for Intergalactic Snowdown -Durango’s own “cabin fever reliever” is the Second Annual Doobie Rolling Contest. Sponsored by Colorado Grow Company and El Rancho Tavern, there are contests for both speed rolling and creativity. Here are some ideas and tips for rolling a joint that is out of this world.

  1. The Cosmic Braid Doobie– Roll three thin joints with extra-long or king size papers. Use your favorite filter and leave the ends open. Push weed upward during rolling and braid them together (like you would braid hair or rope). Tie the three ends together and attach the mouthpieces together with a colorful piece of tape. Fire it up!
  1. The Seth Rogen Pineapple Express Famed Three Headed Space Hooter – Roll one giant doobie with a filter. Cut an even hole through both sides of the joint with an exact-o knife, sharp pencil, pocket knife or whatever tool you have handy. You want to be able to look through this hole. Roll a second, smaller joint to fit in this hole evenly and cut both sides for air passage. Place this small joint in the larger one. Ensure that the holes of the second joint match the mouth piece so that the smoke can travel from the ends of the joint to your lips. Secure and seal this intersection with sticky tape that you have cut from other rolling papers. Puff, puff, pass!
  1. The Deep Space Diamond Doobie– Roll one big hooter with a filter. Then, cut this joint with sharp scissors evenly in to two joints. Roll two additional joints that are thinner. Do not put filters in these and use less weed towards the middle of each joint so that later you can bend them. Cut ten sticky strips from papers and set them aside to use in a few minutes. First, use the sticky strips to attach the two thinner joints to one of the half joints at a 45-degree angle. Use as many sticky strips as you need to secure the joints. Bend these two thin joints in to a diamond shape. Attach the two ends to the other joint with sticky strips until secure. Blast off!
